The Great Indian Butterfly

The Great Indian Butterfly is a movie that portrays the struggles of life in the modern times...growing distances between people, couples specifically... dwindling communication, mechanical lives and definitely diminishing happiness...

It depicts the modern times, the days in which we live, our generation, how we lose track of things that make us happy and slowly, even of ourselves... and, the decay in the quality of our lives...

It represents the lives of some of us in our generation... and it definitely represents what will be the lives of most, in the coming generations... or perhaps i should call it an existence... I'd be glorifying it by calling it a life...

All of us can relate to some part of the movie or the other... There probably are better movies on the same issue which I havent watched... but the movie is set completely in our times... which probably makes it easier for us to relate to... several issues in the movie might seem like they arent relevant to some of us because our lives havent gone as bad... or dont seem like they ever will... and if that is so , there couldnt be anything better... but it certainly is relevant for a lot of us... and increasingly so... and I wouldnt really say that its an amazing movie... its not the kind of movie that you watch and feel like you've woken up from your blind sleep... but, its a nice movie... a simple movie with a simple message... but an important message nevertheless... definitely will set you thinking....
P.S: I noticed many more subtle things about the movie and the dynamics between the couple when i watched it for the 2nd time.

It shows how we would go so far to find what lies within us...and without even realising it....!!

Hope you all find your Great Indian Butterflies...

Cheers,

Soul Curry

This movie, The World's Fastest Indian, let me clarify at the outset, for those who havent observed already.. ;) has nothing to do with Narain Karthikeyan whatsoever, and thankfully so(no offence meant!!).

Its about a man who sets out to realise a long standing dream. Its the story of an ageless man with an unbreakable spirit, about his passion for biking (in every sense of the word) and his unrelenting grit and determination. With dashes of great subtle humour and lovely moments, it is definitely a must watch !! ...
it would be criminal not to mention that Anthony Hopkins has done an outstanding job.... The character he plays in the movie oozes light hearted charm, humour and exhibits so precisely the undying, single minded focus of an old man who is young at heart (he really personifies that phrase) !!

I dont really know if it won too many awards, but not many people have heard of the movie, which is quite unfortunate.... I was lucky to get the movie from OVERDRIVE (the car n bike magazine) as a gift... In a way, i think it deserves cult status... i think that it's the real "The Man , The Machine" kind of a movie...

Its not really an out & out bike enthusiast sort of movie.. It is, but to me, its more an inspiring portrayal of the human spirit and what it can achieve...For a biker, this movie will inspire you to put your boots on and hit the road !! For others, it will do the exact same thing, in whatever it is that you pursue.

If this one doesn't stir your spirit and rekindle your appetite for life, nothing will, believe me !! ... and ill let out a secret, parts of it moved me to tears and gave me goosebumps ...

And TAKE NOTE HERE, like the caption says it is BASED ON ONE HELL OF A TRUE STORY (there are minor differences) !!

Cheers to the human spirit !!!

The ambulance driver

Little white van with a little red light,
And a man who stands tall in the darkest hour of the night…
Still he’s always out of mind, though, never out of sight

Little man, steering the all important wheel,
Hard to tell how u must feel,
When your pulse is racing and speed doesn’t thrill,
And when you get there how great you must feel…

Wonder if, what you go through is, ever seen,
Ever thanked for being the ray of hope that most often yields,
Ever noticed, carrying the burden behind the scenes,
Sharing the pain in the tough times, feeling what they feel,
Unnoticed, anonymous, you’re a hero for real…

But all the helplessness when time doesn’t yield,
All the selfless, yet, thankless hours spent at the wheel,
All the sacrifice ends in a painful ordeal,
Shattered, but back for more, you’re a hero for real…
